Antique English early Victorian Walnut lounge Chair / easy Chair.

This is a very good quality generously proportioned genuine antique English mid Victorian circa 1850 arm chair for a lounge room or parlor.

The design is inspired by the popular French Louis XV style and the French refer to an open arm chair as a Fauteuil and an enclosed arm as a Bergere. This chair has unusual semi enclosed arms so the best of both.

The solid Walnut show timber frame is crafted by a specialist chair maker in the popular French Louis XV manner. The tall oval framed back has a quality padded and upholstered ( diamond buttoned ) panel. the arms flow from the back oval frame ending in French scrolled hand grips then flow down into the front cabriole legs which terminate in scrolled toes with original all brass castor assemblies beneath. The front seat rail is of serpentine form while the side rails are curved and thet all smoothly flow into the front legs.

The oval back, front seat rail and the cabriole leg knees are embellished with quality raised floral carvings. The chair still has its original hand applied French polished finish.

Condition: Frame excellent - Upholstery excellent - Polish excellent. Fabric - good however may be replaced to taste.
