Antique French 19th century Mahogany Campaign Chairs.

A$2,970.00

This set of chairs are quite remarkable and a rare find as not only are they an excellent quality set of six and in excellent condition genuine antique French 19th century Dining Chairs they are Military Campaign Chairs as the backs, side rails and front rail all assemble and disassemble by brass male and female sliding tracks for ease of carrying to and from military campaigns. The question that I have is how high a ranking military official would you have to be to have such a set of chairs on the battle field.

The ‘show timber’ frames are made from prestigious imported Central American Mahogany. The back has a curved arched top rail and a similar arched waist rail both of which are nicely profiled while the uprights are elegantly waisted. Where the uprights meet the waist rail on both components there are carved embellishments in the form of leaves in a French scroll formation. The seat front rail and side rails are curved. the front legs are well turned and nicely tapered while the rear legs are of sabre form. The sit on upholstered seat is removable for transporting and for ease of recovering.

Condition: Excellent / Perfect as the previous owner has had them professionally restored at considerable expense.

Size: Width x Seat Depth x Height

Price: Our Vendors says sell so only $495 each which is less than half what they owe him…. $2,970 the set of six.
