Antique Anglo Indian Regency period Rosewood Table.
This is a rare and extremely god quality example of a genuine antique Anglo Indian regency period ( 1811 - 1820 ) circular tilt top Table made out of solid Sheesham / Indian Rosewood which is very dense and heavy.
The circular solid one piece top has a broard outer banding of carved decoration including vine leaves and compass point symbols of temples and clouds with birds between. The perimeter edge molding is ‘egg and dart.The apron is saw pierced and once again comprises of mainly foliage. The top tilts vertically when not in use and was also used as a pole screen to protect ones face from direct heat from fires.
The cental support column is turned nicely profiled and features classic motifs of the regency period including Tulips and lotus carved embellishments. Below the lower carved ring collar is a flat concave triform base carved to the vertical ends above the short carved turned feet.
Condition: Overall for age excellent with only a few small deficiencies.
