Pair of antique English late Victorian / Edwardian inlaid Satinwood Display Cases.

A$16,850.00

These are something a little bit special as they are a hard to find Pair of genuine antique English circa 1900 corner display cabinets of exceptional quality and style. Each cabinet is in two parts in that there is the Display Cabinet top section and a separate base stand which the cabinet sits on.

They are made in the later 1700s Sheraton revival manner from quality Mahogany and then finished in rare Satinwood known for its satin like sheen. The cabinets are further embellished with an opposed Swan neck pediment with a small platform where a turned timber or a cast brass finial may be fitted. The cornice has an inlaid dentil frieze Below are Mahogany cross banding forming panels which have inner and outer line inlays. This is repeated around the glazed areas such as the door, astragal glazing bars and the side glazed display glass panels. The cabinet internally is mirrored so as to give the ’illusion’ of depth and allows anything displayed inside to be seen from all angles.

The lower stand has the same decorative bandings and line inlays as the upper cabinet to its frieze section and its lower shaped display shelf. The whole is supported four elegant vertical squared and tapered legs which are line inlaid and terminate in typical Sheraton style spade shaped feet.

The cabinet has glass shelves so may have a descrete lighting system installed which would illuminate the whole cabinet down throughthe shelves.
