Antique English George III bow front inlaid Mahogany Chest of Drawers.

A$1,950.00

This is a very good example of a well proportioned fine quality genuine antique English George III period early 1800s ( six drawer ) Chest of Drawers with many desirable and quality features.

The case is crafted from solid boards of imported prestigious Central American Mahogany. of deep rich colour and very good figuring. It is nicely bow fronted which is more difficult to make than a straight fronted Chest. It features full depth dust catchers between each level of drawers. it has three top side by side drawers instead of the usual one or two top drawers. The lower three drawers are full width and graduated in size. All drawers have hard waring solid Oak sides. It has French influenced splayed bracket feet instead of the ordinary easier to make straight bracket feet. It has a decorative three sided cross banding to the top. Each drawer is embellished with a fine lighter wood inlay forming a panel and there is a triple line inlay across the front below the drawers as part of the shaped lower apron. The chest has its original brass drawer pull handles with oval brass backing plates and it has its original polish which has developed over time a deep patina.

Condition: Desirable near original condition commensurate with age and use. there are a few minor age related repairs. All drawers work very well.
