This is a very superior high quality example of a genuine antique English !9th century Victorian period circa 1860 Sutherland Table with a gate leg support action when the drop sides are up.

This table has twin turned end supports embellished with lower reeded urn shapes. The legs sit on a small base from which flow the French influenced short shaped and carved cabriole legs which are complete with their original brass and white porcelain castor assemblies. Also between the bases is a turned stretcher connecting the bases.

The rectangular shaped top has nicely curved ends and the whole table top is finished in selected superb highly figured and warm honey coloured Walnut which is ‘ book leaf matched’ and is further embellished with corner positioned stylised floral and leaf ‘Satinwood’ inlays which are connected by fine line inlays.

Sutherland tables are similar to Pembroke Tables except with Sutherland Tables the width of the top is narrower than the width of the drop side.

Condition: Excellent for age and use.
