Antique English Georgian ( George IV 1820 - 1830 ) Cuban Mahogany Pembroke Table.

A$5,250.00

Every thing about this table is very superior quality from the proportions, the quality of the materials used and the lovely detail of the legs and the feet etc.

The top is the most magnificantly figured very dense and heavy Cuban Mahogany which is the best of the various types of Mahogany. The drop leaves each have two ‘gate leg’ supports per side beneath. At one end of the frieze section is a flush mounted drawer which is Oak lined however it features a tooled leather writing surface which slides back to reveal a storage drawer. Also there is a concealed pull out compartment for ink wells and writing implements.

The centre column is well turned and features a lower decorative turned Urn embellishment.

The four legs are of tapered cabriole form embellished with a full length reed in a pnel nd the legs terminate in superb carved and well detailed Lion Paw feet which have their original all brass castor assemblies beneath.

Condition: Structurally very sound and the table has been professionally restored to the highest professional standards. Complete with the key for the lockable drawer.
