This is a truely wonderful genuine antique mid 1800s French Card Table superbly crafted from Walnut and then decoratively feature inlaid with floral motifs.

The square top is parquetry inlaid and has a conventional Ebony and Walnut centre Chess Board panel with outer thick and thin banding of figured Walnut and with fine line inlays between. Each Ebony square is delicately marquetry inlaid with fine floral motifs in various Fruitwoods while several squares have Ivory inlays as well.

The top is supported on a cluster of four spiral turned ‘barley twist’ columns which rise from a shaped flat centre base. From the flat edges flow four compass point positioned shaped and tapered cabriole legs with raised foliate carved knees and upward scrolled toes. In between the legs are concave panels of Ebony and each with a different multi coloured floral marquetry inlay.

Condition: Excellent - commensurate with age and use.
